There is one guy I know of mentioned that his 485 package was returned after the July 2nd update.
When did he get back the package?
Does it have a rejection notice in it?
I think these two key questions can throw more light on this. Can you enquire and post here for everybody's reference? We will really appreciate that.

That's exactly what I wanted to ask! How on earth are they going to prove a presence?
1. Drivers license (that only shows the date they started)
2. Utility bills (is that possible?)
3. Bank statements (I'm not sure if undocumented ones get accounts)
4. Employment proof (right...)
5. Real estate titles

IRS accepts illegals to file IRS Tax returns. Many of the illegals do that (they use ITIN #'s instead of SS#).

And I see your point, but what do you know about the visa rules of your country? Let's say, I want to work in your country - what visa do I need - is there a CAP or quota system - validity, my rights etc. Its wrong to blame average American or any generic population because you are in deep shit. Just my thoughts - no hard feelings!!! Its more about educating people who are interested and IV (henceforth Legal IV) is the platform for doing just that.

You guys arguing bettern than respective campaign managers. Seems we are deep into american politics even though we can not vote. I can watch MSNBC and CNN 24 hrs.
Not very sure about immi. policies but any logical thinker can not support republicans. Mccain says country first which is utter lie. He would not have picked that VP if he really thinks about country.
Do you really believe what that website says? Seriously? You don't think that's a little to targeted towards pulling our heartstrings? With no solid action plan to back it up? Just like a hooker ad on the freeway?
John McCain does NOT know how to use a computer. That webpage has been designed, scripted and QA'd to specifically get that reaction from you.
The Republicans have been using this tactic for the past 8 years. They pretend to cater to your needs and then leave us shortchanged. Eg. WMD. Terrorism. Did that benefit us, really? Do you feel safer? Or do you feel just about the same except that gas has gone up about 300%, food 200%, unemployment 5%, housing market crumbled and economy about to "crater"?
Have you had a look at the candidates' actions though? Barack has been realistic and truthful so far. He's went a gotten a good VP to back up any inexperience he may have. He's been addressing issues at hand, and I can't really fault him for ignoring the immigration scene when the financial scene has gotten so bad.
McCain has been a total disaster. Sarah Palin? Really? At McCain's age, if anything untoward happens to him, she'll be your president. She'll be taking care of the mortgage sector and finance on wall street. All those companies the govt bailed out? Yes, she'll be taking responsibility for all those. Is that really where you want to spend your GC life in?
On top of that, McCain has been acting erratic and weird. He's suspended his own campaign, gotten his crowd so rowdy that he got himself booed by his supporters, refused to look at Obama in a debate... is that how a maverick works? Is that how a tried and tested veteran behaves?
And then he's done the Bush thing again. Flat out lied to everyone to benefit himself. See David Letterman's case, where he stood the poor host up.
Folks, look at the BIGGER picture, and not your own selfish needs. There is no point getting a GC to a land that was not the one you had in mind.

IV has people on the national advisory board that include the previous USCIS ombudsman, what is their take on this? I have not seen any thoughts from such experts that support this organization on this issue of quarterly spillover

After long wait of 4.7 years ( i know it may not sound too long as some of the others), I finally got the card production ordered email yesterday. I was mostly a silent reader on IV but have contributed to IV few times since I started visiting since last year. I wish good luck for everybody waiting out there.

Such an action would be illegal, but CIS has already stopped accepting I-485 applications for another category known as “Other Workers,” despite June Visa Bulletin showing that category is current. My advice to all of you is keep filing all through the month of July. For all we know, they may never issue such an illegal policy or they might lose a lawsuit filed against them. So keep filing. 2) At the very best - we need to have another rally in Silicon Valley to highlight

My attorney has specifically advised us that we don't have to file again. My application reached NSC on July 2nd.

Hopefully, again, USCIS will institute a process for such individuals to avoid being penalized.

We also don�t know yet how cases will be processed that are not in the batch of cases that get green card numbers this year. For individuals filing cases not requiring a labor certification (such as Schedule A cases and national interest waivers), the priority date is the date of filing. Because there may be hundreds of thousands of applications received between July 2nd and August 17th with many of these cases not requiring a labor certification, the date during this six week period a case is filed could make a big difference in terms of when a case will complete processing. And, again, getting that July 2nd priority date for those who filed early and were rejected could make a big difference in when their cases are ultimately processed through to completion.

I see an increasing incidence of activities/offers/utilities with restrictions, citizen/green card status only, here are some examples, perhaps others can share experiences too:
1. I tried to travel to Mexico. if you do not have a GC, here is what you have to do (for many not all nationals, India is on the list):
appear in a consulate (350 miles for me) personally, with all family members present, the consulate will send a request for permission to proccess to Mexico City. then cool your heels at least 6 weeks. Once permission is obtained the entire family reappers in person to apply for the visa.
I chose not to travel.
2. Amex is advertising a glopal trip protection insurance, with the caveat that you may only apply if citizen or GC.
3. I've been a Citibank customer for a decade, and have considerable funds with them, one click of a button opens me a new e-account- except that the fine print says you have to be Citizen/GC to do it.
4. A travel package to Europe offers an incentive- 1 euro for 1 dollar at the hotel....you guessed it! only citizens and GC....
5. i heard someone complain about Discover earlier....they send preapproved offers then reject you if you tell them you are not Citizen/GC. I've had one for years, they happened to send me an approved offer without the question....the whole thing is tragicomic :-)
6. If your visa is expired as mine is (btw a feb date has never opened up anywhere in India to date...i'm sick and tired and frustrated....getting an appt is a major hassle) the you better choose your airline carefully, the French embassy demands personal appearance (350 miles) for the 10 min it takes to issue a visa- which then lets me walk from one gate to another at De Gaulle....
I'm not dying to be a permanent resident. I don't consider it my right. I have not taken anyone's job...I was recruited after a long search failed. Since I have joined our practice has grown many fold, my revenue itself has doubled and we have recruited more providers - Americans, incidentally.
But i would love to have a green card as long as i'm here, life would just be easier...
