we have to make USCIS more transparent and effective...
There are several smaller campaigns that we can have ..one that comes to my mind is to show the benefits of legal immigration ..
we can do something as easy as meeting our local realtors ..(maybe each member can meet 4-5 realtors in his area) ..show interest in buying a house and then back out saying that the GC delays are preventing you from buying a house ...(and maybe ask the realtors to advertise on IV :))

I am not sure if you have done this already but if you have photoshop or any other photo editing software, just take your picture and do resize to 320 X 240. In photoshop, when I do image resize it gives me the new size option in inches and pixels. I pick pixels and specify 320X240 and bamm.. your image is ready. Let me know if that doesn't help.
I have a hard time to adjust my photo to designated spec. I shrunked to 62kb but they did not take it and if I make it lesser, it won't be 320 x 240 pixels but less. I use regular digital camera. anybody help me how to do?

I would try downloading the software update from nikon and reinstalling it to see what happens.. it is fairly simple.. there are "A" and a "B" programs that need to be loaded independently... the instructions on the site are straightforward... I have had D-70 since they came out and have had no problems.... If your local retailer will not stand behind the camera it seems nikon should... isn't there a year nikon warrenty?

Its the same story everytime, they will use the AgJobs and effectively kill everything. We, a significantly impacted minority, will end up getting screwed because members were more interested in reading the forums instead of educating the lawmakers.
Recapture does not increase the number of visas, it simply uses the unallocated visas. If they cannot understand this simple argument then what hope do we have. The anti immigrant forces make it sound like the bill will unleash a wave of immigrants.

Get HDFC receipt
Fill DS -160 online (no 156 or 157). You can complete 160 even before paying fees though. You will need to upload photo in DS 160.
2 days after the receipt was issued, take appointment (online).
Arrange to drop the docs (copy of passport, copy of 797, Appointment Letter, Receipt) at VFS Center 3 days before interview (this step is unique for Mumbai consulate).
Appear for interview
You may also buy a Rs250 Ticket to Start & Stripe Lounge where you can sit inside till your appointment time (instead of standing outside in queue) and they will take you to consulate by bus right before interview. It is worth , particularly in hot (or pouring) month of July.

It was happenned to me also when I use my laptop which has Vista O/S. But when I tried in another system with windows XP , I did not find any problem.
I tried that too.I provided the petition details and clicked submit button. Then it takes me to save and exit buttons there is no continue button.
Let me try once again. Any more inputs.....

Yes, my PD is Nov. 2005 - from looking at the current situation, it looks like we have nothing to lose if we file it - the worst thing that can happen is that it will be rejected (even before being processed). I am applying!!!:)
My papers reached my lawyer only on 3rd. So, she didnt file at that time. Yesterday, she asked me if we can apply to become a part of lawsuit. I said OK. My file was sent to uscis yesterday by fedex. Since, I have spent 1000$ already on medical and other stuffs, just thought, why not give it a shot.
I would ask you guys to consider filing especially if your PD is in 2005 or later.

Email VFS with your question. Everytime I have emailed them, they have replied back within 24 hrs.
Just curious, why do you want to use the special category? Book your appointment through the normal procedure as there a lot of dates available.
I just booked my dates online some 2-3 weeks back and after filling in all the forms they automatically put a note on the DS156 form that said "Visa Renewal". I already have a H-1 and am going to get my 2nd H-1 stamped.

You really got to be kidding us. The 8 people I know of in EB3 during these period is still waiting.
actually, i think that the EB3 will also make rapid advances come October.
with the quota exhausted for this year, and the pre-adjudication taking place and with most of the EB3 India applicants having received their GC between 2002 and 2005, i think the dates will advance to 2003 by Dec and to mid 2004 by Feb/March. After that, it is anyone's guess if the quota for India will hold out. As for me, I see at least another year or two wait for my GC, unless the Congress passes a miracle.

My PD is oct 2004 it is way-off from the current priority dates according to the visa bulleting, but still I received the EAD for only one year(approval date: 9/11/2008). Did you receive any positive info from the INFO-PASS appointment?

i traveled to India and went for stamping when my PP was expiring within couple of months and got VISA stamped successfully and traveled back safely.
the initial screening officer at Chennai consulate commented with a smile 'you know, your passport is expiring in couple of months'. but the main immi officer didnt mention anything about it. this proves that there is no such law that says, u have to have a PP valid for six months.
but, when u r applying for a stamping appointment, the system says, 'its recommended to have a PP valid for at least six months'.
in your case i guess its just travel and no stamping involved and so u r in much better shape.
but, THIS WAS JUST MY EXPERIENCE. I WOULDN'T RELY ON THIS.
EVER SINCE I STRONGLY FEEL I WAS SUPER STUPID TO TAKE THAT KIND OF A RISK.

in SFO consulate i could get PP in less than 7 business days. i guess urs is Chicago, so might not apply for u.
but, in India u can get new PP very fast under Tatkal scheme. do this,
be prepared with required dox and stuff before going there, ask ur relative/friend there to talk to local Tatkal officer to make it ready for ur PP renewal, soon as u land in India apply for PP renewal under Tatkal, u will get ur new PP before ur Jet lag is over. this leaves a buffer of ur vacation time, for contingencies.
finally, what GCCOVET said is absolutely right, u will get I-94 only until the expiry date of old PP. u would need to renew it again. not worth it. luckily i live close to border so i drove and came back to extend my I-94 after getting new PP.

I recently moved from Ohio to Maryland. But Maryland DMA is saying that they can not issue Maryland driver's license based on my Ohio license BECAUSE my Ohio driver license has "non renewable/non transferable" note in it. In Ohio for all non-immigrant, they give driver's license with "non renewable/non transferable" note. Until someone gets green card, the note will be there in Ohio driver's license.
Did anyone have similar situation moving from Ohio to different state? This is strange rule in Ohio. but now if I have to get driver's license in Maryland, DMA is saying that I need to start from the beginning like fresh driver starting from driving school, certificates etc etc.
Please help.
